Common Admission Test, CAT 2017 has been the most awaited notification for almost all the graduates who aim to get themselves enrolled into India’s top B-schools in 2018. Changing its conducting authority each passing year to have unique CAT exam, this year’s CAT 2017 is being conducted by the old established B-school, IIM Lucknow. CAT 2017 is being held for graduates who aim to do their Master’s in Business Administration i.e. MBA as their post-graduation course from India’s top notch B-schools like IIM’s, FMS etc. for the academic session of 2018.

IIM Lucknow Conducts CAT 2017

Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow will be conducting this year's Common Admission Test (CAT) in the month of November/December. In a notification asking for advertisement services bids on the official website of IIM Lucknow, it was revealed that they are the conducting authority of CAT 2017.

Professor Neeraj Dwivedi from IIM Lucknow, who specialises in Strategic Management will be the convenor for CAT 2017. IIM Lucknow will be conducting the CAT after a span of seven years. The last two CATs were conducted by IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore. Last year, allegations of paper leak had surfaced after the CAT 2016 examination and this year IIM Lucknow would like to avoid such a situation.

Some Important Points Related To CAT 2017 

CAT 2017 shall open up opportunities to 20+ IIMs, IMT, MDI etc.

The academic year via CAT 2017 in B-schools shall commence from 2018 onwards
The notification regarding application date shall be available after July 30,2017 for CAT
Candidates to have a month’s time to complete all the formalities pertaining to CAT 2017
Expected amendments and changes in Exam Pattern of CAT 2017 as a yearly norm
Amendments introduced to impart uniqueness of exam and break the monotony

 The timeline for CAT generally remains similar every year. Although till 2015 CAT was conducted in November, CAT 2016 was held in a single day window on December 4.

CAT Eligibility criteria 2017

The eligibility criteria of CAT has remained constant over the years.


•Aspirants should have passed and obtained Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institute.

•The minimum percentage of aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA to be obtained or secured by the applicants is 50 for General category candidates and 45 for reserved category candidates.

•Final year graduation students are also eligible to appear for the exam provided they fulfill the Bachelor’s degree cutoff and other factors within the stipulated schedule given by IIMs and other participating institutes.

IIMs and other Government institutes follow the reservation criteria of candidates. PWD-3%, ST 7.50%, SC-15%, OBC-27%
