The biggest and most popular entrance examination of India, CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). CAT scores are used for admission by 19 IIMs and various other management institutes across the country. More than two lakh students appear for the exam each year.
Registration for CAT begins in August-September and the exam is held in November-December. In 2016, CAT was held on December 4.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates require minimum 50% aggregate mark in graduation in any discipline from a recognized institute. The candidates from SC, ST, OBC and DA category need an aggregate of 45% marks. Final year graduation students can also apply provided they can submit the graduation final marks to the institutes within the requisite schedule.
SYLLABUS
CAT has three sections:

Another top management entrance, XAT is pen and paper based management aptitude test. Conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) Jamshedpur, XAT is taken by approximately one lakh candidates annually.

MAT or the Management Aptitude Test is the MBA entrance exam conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for the admission in about 500 B-schools in India and abroad.
MAT is conducted 4 times a year in the months of February, May, September and December. The exam is taken by around 20,000 test takers in each season.

The candidates should be graduates in any discipline from a recognize University or Institute. Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply.

4. CMAT (Common Management Admission Test)
The second largest management entrance examination of the country, CMAT is taken by roughly 1.5 lakh candidates. Conducted by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), CMAT is a relatively new addition to the list of MBA exams. The first CMAT exam took place in 2012. However, it has fast become one of the most popular exams of the country. The exam is accepted by more than 500 MBA institutes across the country.
The CMAT exam is held in January every year.
ELIGIBILITY
The candidates should be graduates in any discipline from a recognised institute with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply.
SYLLABUS
Tests the candidate’s aptitude in four main sections:
• Quantitative technique
• Logical reasoning
• Language comprehension
• General Awareness
Conducted by Symbiosis International University, SNAP is also a national-level management entrance examination. SNAP scores are primarily used for admission to 15 institutes under Symbiosis International University. However, many other MBA colleges use SNAP scores for admission.
SNAP is held in December and the registrations go on till November.

The candidates should be graduates in any discipline from a recognised university or institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Final year students can also apply.

6. NMAT by GMAC
NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) is also one of the important MBA entrance exams. It has recently been acquired by GMAC and was rebranded as NMAT by GMAC. The computer-based exam is held over a 75-day testing window, between October and December. Candidates need to attempt 120 MCQs in 120 minutes.
ELIGIBILITY
The NMIMS aspirants should be graduates in any discipline from a recognised institute or university with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate. Final year Bachelor’s degree students can also apply.

The exam has three main sections:

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi is one of the top B-schools in India established by the Government of India (Ministry of Commerce & Industry). The institute conducts admission to its flagship MBA in International Business (MBA-IB) through the IIFT Entrance Exam. Held on the fourth Sunday of November every year, IIFT entrance exam is taken by around 60,000 candidates vying for 350 seats in the institute’s Delhi and Kolkata campuses.
IIFT test is conducted in November for two hours and consists of 200 multiple choice questions.
ELIGIBILITY
IIFT applicants should be graduates in any discipline of minimum three years duration from a recognised institute or university. Final year graduation students can also apply.

8. MH-CET
Maharashtra Common Entrance Test or is the state level MBA entrance exam for Maharashtra. Conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, the exam is held for the admission in 45,621 seats offered by 400+ B-schools in Maharashtra for their MBA/MMS/PGDM programmes.
MAH CET is generally held in the month of March. Candidates need to attempt 200 questions in 150 minutes.

The candidates should be graduates in any discipline from an institute or university recognised by Association of Indian Universities with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

9. ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions)
ATMA is also a national-level management entrance test. ATMA scores are used for admission in by several management programmes. Held for three hours.
It is conducted in online as well as offline mode and held four times a year -February, May, July and August.

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai conducts the admission of its flagship programme Masters in Social Work. The TISSNET exam is taken by around 12,000 candidates. The number of seats offered by TISS in its MSW programme is 220.
TISSNET is a computer based test of 1 hour 40 minutes
